Tower
Tower Insurance traces its roots to 1869, when the New Zealand government established the Government Life Insurance Office (Government Life) with initial funding provided by the state. In 1953, the Government Life Insurance Act transformed it into a separate statutory entity. By 1987, the office adopted the name TOWER Corporation, and in 1990, a new TOWER Corporation Act transferred ownership to policyholders, effectively structuring it as a mutual association.
To overcome the limitations in raising new capital imposed by its mutual association framework, TOWER began a demutualisation process in 1999, supported by policyholders and sanctioned by the High Court. This change shifted TOWER’s structure to that of a shareholder-owned company. Shortly after, TOWER Limited was listed on both the Australian and New Zealand stock exchanges in September 1999. In November 2006, TOWER’s operations in New Zealand and Australia were separated, following approval from shareholders and the High Court.

ANDO
Ando believes insurance should be straightforward, stress-free, and transparent. In essence, we want New Zealanders to have higher expectations of their insurers.
